Discoveries and Inventions
Man has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He is never satisfied with what he has known and seen. He wants to know and see more and more. This curiosity to know more coupled with his indomitable spirit of adventure, has inspired him to undertake and carry out difficult and dangerous risks which eventually resulted in epoch-making discoveries and inventions and led him in long and continuous journey from his helpless state of a caveman to his present position of power and progress. In the fields of science and technology, man has already achieved what was once inconceivable. Today he is on the threshold of the space age. The invention of rockets, spaceships and artificial satellites has made it possible for him to go far beyond the earth, his home planet and explore the space. He has already landed on the moon and is preparing for a journey to the Mars.

মানুষের রয়েছে অতৃপ্ত জ্ঞান পিপাসা। সে যা জেনেছে বা দেখেছে তা নিয়ে কখনো সে তৃপ্তিবোধ করে না। সে চায় আরো অনেক কিছু জানতে, অনেক কিছু দেখতে। অধিক জানার এই কৌতূহলের সঙ্গে দুঃসাহসিক কর্মকাণ্ডের অদম্য স্পৃহা যুক্ত হয়ে তাকে অনুপ্রাণিত করেছে দুঃসাধ্য ও বিপজ্জনক কাজে আত্মনিয়োগ করতে এবং সেগুলো সম্পন্ন করতে। ফলে, সে যুগান্তকারী আবিষ্কার ও উদ্ভাবনকর্মে সাফল্য অর্জন করেছে যা তাকে গুহামানবের অসহায় অবস্থা থেকে দীর্ঘ ও নিরবচ্ছিন্ন যাত্রাপথে পরিচালিত করে বর্তমানের পরাক্রম ও প্রগতির অবস্থানে নিয়ে এসেছে। বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির ক্ষেত্রে মানুষ অনেক অসাধ্যকেই সাধন করেছে, যা একদিন মানুষের কাছে ছিল অকল্পনীয়। মানুষ আজ মহাকাশ যুগে এসে :পৗঁছেছে। রকেট, মহাকাশযান ও কৃত্রিম উপগ্রহ উদ্ভাবন মানুষকে এই গ্রহ ছেড়ে মহাকাশে বিচরণের ক্ষেত্র তৈরি করে দিয়েছে। মানুষ ইতোমধ্যেই চাঁদে পৌঁছেছে আর মঙ্গল গ্রহে অবতারণের প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে।

Rockets, spaceships, artificial satellites are the best examples. They have contributed much to go beyond his home planet-the earth.
